Courageous women workers in two garment factories in Indonesia have secured a groundbreaking, union-led gender justice agreement, negotiated by four unions—SPN, SPSI, and KASBI at PT Batang Apparel Indonesia, and SPSI at PT Semarang Garment Indonesia—with the support of the Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA), Global Labor Justice (GLJ), and Worker Rights Consortium (WRC), all of whom are signatories.
The Agreement establishes a union-led program to eliminate GBVH, drawing from global best practices, including the Dindigul and Lesotho Agreements.
The site will be a centralized location for all of the Coalition’s work – including reports on migrant workers’ rights, advocacy submissions made to multinational and governmental bodies, and updates on Coalition delegations.
This is a critical step for accountability and to end impunity for Duterte and others who have brutally targeted so many including workers and union activists for years. GLJ stands with our union allies in the Philippines who have courageously fought back against the government’s red-tagging of workers.
